Five people were seriously hurt and dozens more wounded after the packed vehicle veered off the road near the Rest and Be Thankful beauty spot.

One told how it felt like he was in a “washing machine” as it tumbled down a steep slope before coming to a stop just 6ft from Loch Restil in Argyll.

David Wilson, of Digby Brown Solicitor, has confirmed legal action was being taken against the business.

He added: “We can confirm we are investigating a number of civil claims in relation to this matter.

“However, we are unable to disclose further details at this time.”

We told how 51 visitors were onboard — most pensioners from Kent — when the coach crashed on its way to Inveraray from Arrochar in March 2015.

Terrified passengers reported hearing a loud bang before it plunged off the twisting road, throwing one woman from a window.

Witnesses said emergency crews were forced to cut a panel in the vehicle to free trapped holidaymakers.

One victim said at the time: “I thought we were all going to be dead. I thought we were going into that loch. I’m surprised nobody died.

“The bus turned over but bounced and landed upright. The windows smashed.”

Passing motorists rushed to help and let shocked and injured tourists sit in their vehicles until mercy crews arrived.

The rescue operation included the local mountain rescue team, the Royal Navy and council staff.

A spokesman for Lochs and Glens Holidays, based in Gartocharn, Dunbartonshire, said last night: “The matter is in the hands of our insurers.”
