An Alabama inmate who escaped from a work release center is back in custody after finding freedom for only a few hours.

Enterprise police arrested 36-year old Terrance Leon Couch at 3:05 Saturday afternoon, about 24 hours after the Alabama Department of Corrections reported him missing.

Couch is serving a two year sentence at the Elba Work Release Center, a minimum security prison, despite a lengthy criminal history that includes a prior escape.

Court records reveal that in 2006 he escaped custody of Daleville police. His other arrests were for assault, breaking and entering a vehicle, another burglary charge, assault, and fugitive from justice.
