Nick Park's Gromit was a whisker away from being a cat

This article is more than 11 years old

Wallace & Gromit go together like Batman and Robin, the Lone Ranger and Tonto and Crockett and Tubbs, don't they? Apparently not, says creator Nick Park. Park has revealed the loveable mutt was originally intended to be a cat, reports the Mail. However, the moggy sidekick didn't get off the drawing board after Park realised it was much easier to model a dog. "Plus I had a packet of dog's noses from a craft shop on me ... so Gromit became a dog," he told the Radio Times.
