EAGLE COUNTY – Two people who deputies say shot tracer rounds near the Town of Basalt, creating a wildfire that has burned at least three homes to the ground since the blaze started nearly three weeks ago, turned themselves in early Sunday morning, according to a spokesperson with the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office.

Allison Marcus, 22, and Richard Miller, 23, both from El Jebel, were booked into the Eagle County Detention Facility after turning themselves shortly after midnight on Sunday.

Both have been charged with fourth-degree arson, a Class 4 felony; and firing into woods or prairie, a Class 6 felony, according to Jessie Porter, public information officer with the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office.

The two suspects are being held on a $7,500 bond.
