University of Holy Cross Gets First Dormitory For $14M

NEW ORLEANS, LA — The University of the Holy Cross in New Orleans will soon have its first dormitory in the university's 101-year existence. It will be the first college dorm ever built in the section of New Orleans on the Mississippi River's west bank.

The Catholic university held a ceremony Tuesday morning to celebrate work on the four-story, 60,000-square-foot building.

The exteriors are completed on the first two floors. It will include singles and two- and four-bedroom suites. The suites will have mini-kitchens. All students will share a community kitchen.
The dorm will include a community living room, conference centers, a fitness center, laundry facilities, a prayer and meditation room, and six study rooms.
