A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for much of northeast Kansas until 9 a.m. Monday.

The National Weather Service issued the advisory for Jefferson, Wabaunsee, Shawnee, Douglas, Lyon, Osage, Franklin, Coffey and Anderson counties.

The advisory includes the cities of Valley Falls, Oskaloosa, Perry, McLouth, Grantville, Meriden, Nortonville, Alma, Eskridge, Maple Hill, Alta Vista, McFarland, Harveyville, Paxico, Topeka, Lawrence, Emporia, Osage City, Carbondale, Lyndon, Burlingame, Overbrook, Ottawa, Burlington, Lebo, and Garnett.

The weather service cautions that visibilities of a quarter mile or less are expected.

Poor visibility will make driving difficult at times this morning, the weather service says. Motorists are urged to slow down, use their headlights and allow extra time to reach destinations.
