Trumpeter Sean Jones will be performing at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 27 at Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland.

Chamber Music Pittsburgh presents trumpeter Sean Jones, in a performance featuring contemporary dance ensemble Attack Theatre and members of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 27 at Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland.

Jones will play a program including Igor Stravinsky's “L'Histoire du Soldat “(A Soldier's Tale); “Noir in Blue,” a world-premiere work by Wynton Kelly Stone Guess, as well as selected jazz pieces.

Members of the symphony will join Jones in performing “L'Histoire Soldat” as dancers from contemporary dance ensemble Attack Theatre perform the story through dance and narration.

Music and spirituality have always been fully intertwined in the artistic vision of trumpeter, composer, educator and activist Jones. Singing and performing as a child with the church choir in his hometown of Warren, Ohio, he switched from the drums to the trumpet at the age of 10 upon his first exposure to Miles Davis. Jones still cites Davis' overall artistic vision and purity of sound as his greatest personal influence.

Jones earned a master's degree in classical trumpet performance from Rutgers University and had a six-month stint with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. This marked the beginning of a relationship with Wynton Marsalis, who offered Jones a permanent position as lead trumpeter until 2010. Jones has subbed with the New Jersey Philharmonic, was a featured performer for Youngstown Symphony Orchestra and at Salt Bay Chamber Music Festival performing the “Arutunian Trumpet Concerto” and “L'Histoire du Soldat,” respectively, and was most recently featured on Lang Lang's 2016 release, “New York Rhapsody.”

Attack Theatre combines modern dance, original life music, multimedia, and interdisciplinary art forms to present engaging and innovative dances performances.

Tickets are $39 and $46, student rush tickets are $15 – available at the box office one hour prior to the concert. The Carnegie Music Hall is located at 4400 Forbes Ave., Oakland
