Anything for Ariel! There's an exception to every rule, and for Candace Cameron Bure's "no skimpy costumes" rule, that exception is apparently Disney night on Dancing With the Stars. The former Full House actress, who vowed earlier in the season to wear "modest" outfits on the ABC show, loosened up a little to play Ariel from The Little Mermaid, complete with a revealing seashell bra.

"If there were one week that I could take my conservative walls down a little bit, this would be it," the season 18 competitor, 37, said of her samba with Mark Ballas to the Disney classic "Under the Sea" on Monday, April 14. Later, during her consultation with the show's costumers, she added, "Because it's Ariel, I'll try to live up to the cartoon."

"She's game to show a little skin this week," Ballas told the designers excitedly. "A little bit. She's into it."

She was indeed into it. Rocking the sparkly purple seashell bra, a red wig, and a green sequined skirt with a sexy thigh-high slit, the mom of three gave one of her boldest, most fun performances to date. "I really liked what I saw — the transformation!" judge Bruno Tonioli gushed. "It was like the rebirth of Venus!"

Us Weekly caught up with Cameron Bure after the show backstage, where she dished about what inspired her to push her boundaries a little. "It was really fun, and I think I felt a freedom in that, because I was totally playing a character!" she told Us. "I wasn't Candace — I was playing Ariel."

Her kids — daughter Natasha, 15, and sons Lev, 14, and Maksim, 12 — liked it, too. "They thought it was great, but my boys were like, 'Nice shells, mom!'" she quipped. "I mean…my boys are 12 and 14! So they thought it was pretty funny."

The former child star previously made headlines after the season 18 premiere in March, when she told Ballas she wasn't going to be his "sexy girl" in the competition. "The two most important things in my life are my faith and my family," she explained. "I'm a mom of three kids, so I want to look good and feel beautiful, but I will probably stay on the more modest end of costuming."

"I am a mom, and I want to be a good role model for my children and my husband," she added to Us. (The actress has been married since 1996 to Russian hockey player Valerie Bure.) "I want to represent all the moms out there and inspire them and encourage them."
