Authorities Thursday captured a suspect in a shooting who led Bosque County deputies on a chase into Hill County, where he abandoned his vehicle and ran.

Christopher Mark Appleby, 33, a felon wanted in connection with a shooting Wednesday in Bosque County, was captured in a subdivision in Hillsboro.

Deputies said he was carrying a weapon when he ran; authorities believe he may have run out of gas.

"An investigator was working on getting warrants issued and went out to talk to him and he fled," said Chief Deputy Clint Pullin. "He was on parole in a stolen truck with stolen plates."

Authorities set up a perimeter and were using drones and tracking dogs in an effort to find him.

A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper saw him in the 100 block of Tall Timbers Trail.

"A couple of troopers remained in the area with our deputies and a constable, and one of the troopers spotted him in new clothes," said HCSO Chief Deputy Rick White.

White said he had somehow managed to change clothes and was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a ball cap when he was spotted.

"He's in custody," said White.

White said he was arrested without incident.

Appleby is also wanted on a Bosque County warrant charging unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and was transported to the Bosque County Jail Thursday night.

Officials say more charges are likely.

As far as the shooting investigation, Pullin said Appleby went to a residence, knocked on the door and fired multiple rounds, however, no one was shot at directly.

He said they found shell casings at the scene.
