Amp’d Up with Dave Frisina: Jason Aldean kicks off concert season at Lakeview (Video)

The relentless rain and cloudy weather got you down? Don’t worry, the summer concert season begins Thursday with the main gate at the St. Joseph’s Health Amphitheater at Lakeview opens at 6 p.m. for Jason Aldean.

The country star is bringing his “Ride All Night” tour to the outdoor venue with the earliest ever concert date and is part of the 2019 Country Megaticket. Aldean’s hits include “Big Green Tractor,” “Dirt Road Anthem,” “Burnin’ It Down,” “Tonight Looks Good on You” and “You Make It Easy.” He most recently released his eighth studio album, “Rearview Town,” in 2018.

And here’s what you need to know before heading to the Amp:

Weather: The forecast calls for a high of 59 degrees with a low of 45 degrees at night with a chance of a late shower.

Who is the opening act: Kane Brown, Carly Pearce and Dee Jay Silver will open the show at 7 p.m.

Brown, a 23-year-old country singer, gained attention with millions of followers on Facebook. His hits include “Heaven” and “What Ifs" and he released a new album, “Experiment” in November 2018.

Pearce is a Kentucky native who began touring at the age of 11. At 16, she quit high school for a job performing at Dollywood. Pearce won CMT Music Awards Breakthrough Video of the Year for “Every Little Thing” in 2018.

Silver will DJ between sets by Aldean, Brown and Pearce.

How to get there:

Bus: Centro buses will run an express service from operate from Warren Street (across from the Centro Transit Hub in Downtown Syracuse) to the front circle/main gate of the Amp. Service beings 5:30 p.m. and will run every 20 minutes. Busses will stop one hour after the concert conclusion. A round-trip ride from Downtown Syracuse to the amphitheater is $4. Tickets can be purchased at the may also be purchased at the Centro Transit Hub Information Booth or Shaughnessy’s Irish Pub, located inside the Marriott Syracuse Downtown.

Get dropped off: Drop off and pick up will be near the VIP/Premier Parking in the west end of the Orange Lot. Stay to the left lane of the Orange Lot and veer to the left at the top of the hill when entering the lot. Continue straight and parking staff should guide you to the drop-off/pick-up point.

Parking: The Orange Lot will open for this show at 4:30 p.m. Only the Orange Lot will be open and there will be no parking shuttles available. Handicapped-accessible parking is available in the Orange lot, closest to the amphitheater’s main entrance. A valid, appropriate disability placard or license plate is required to park in a handicapped-accessible space.

Parking is $10 per passenger vehicle. Limo parking is available $60 at the gate. RV and bus parking is $90. Fees are subject to change without notice. Pricing is set per vehicle and is available on a first come, first served basis.

Boat dock: “Lakeview Point Landing" will open at 5:30 p.m. and is located on the left side of the amphitheater. The dock has 25 spaces, though an excess of smaller boats may allow room for a few more. Boaters must pay $1.50 per foot, per day to park their boat and can reserve a space at the dock in advance at dockwa.com.

Concertgoers must bring paper tickets with them, if arriving by boat. Boaters cannot yet use e-tickets on their mobile devices at this entrance. It’s a 10-minute walk up to the amphitheater to a dedicated entrance. Anyone with mobility issues can request a golf cart pick-up. Docks open two hours before show time; all slips should be vacated no longer than one hour after the completion of the concert. Kayaks and canoes are not permitted to use the dock. Drop off and pick up is permitted at the end of the dock.

West Shore Trail: The West Shore Trail will close at dusk the night before scheduled events. Patrons will not be able to access the venue from this trail.

What you can bring in the main gate: Concertgoers can bring in bags up to 14”x14”x6” and all bags will be subject to search. You can bring in factory sealed water bottles (up to a gallon) and small snack foods (no bones or utensils required) in clear sandwich bags.

For patrons sitting on the lawn, chairs are permitted to be brought into the venue, however they cannot exceed the size of 35.5” x 26” x 37.4” when fully deployed. Inflatable seating is not permitted. Personal sized umbrellas with no pointed tip will be permitted, but over-sized umbrellas and ones with a plastic or metal tip will not be allowed.

What they will be serving: Food trucks on site will include Chicken Bandit, Toss n’ Fire, Bite Box & Byblos. New to the Amp this year is Bull & Bear Roadhouse in the East Plaza serving The ‘Amp’d Up Burger’ with a beef patty topped with Hofmann’s Italian sausage, peppers, onions and NYS mozzarella cheese served on a roll.

Where the “Ride All Night Tour” is headed next: Jason Aldean will be performing in Columbia, Maryland on May 17. He will be headed to CMAC Performing Arts Center on August 10 and at Saratoga Performing Arts Center on September 5.
