The worst thing about the Fall TV lineup (without accounting for taste) is finding out your favorite show didn’t make the cut.
And we sympathize with the viewers who have to wait even longer to see fresh episodes of the programs they care about most. But there just isn’t enough primetime real estate on broadcast to allow for every old show that was renewed or new show that was ordered to premiere when autumn rolls around. Enter: the midseason solution.
When a show doesn’t make the fall lineup, but the network still has it in play, it usually gets bumped till the colder months, when other programs have gone on hiatus or wrapped up a shortened season. It’s also a good time to debut new shows that may have gotten fewer eyeballs when put up against a highly-rated series in the same time slot in September.
To make sure you are fully prepared for some premiere date heartbreak over the next few weeks, TheWrap has compiled a handy list of all the ABC, NBC, Fox, CBS and The CW series that won’t be back. The new shows are noted in all caps, with descriptions for the series from the networks.

A legal drama set in an wrongful conviction firm. Led by a fierce and fearless female lawyer with a hunger for justice, the team reopens investigations, putting their own lives in danger to exonerate the innocent that were ‘proven’ guilty. Our lead’s motivation comes from her infamous past; as a young adult she was found guilty and later exonerated in a high-profile case in which she became a tabloid sensation, household name and national celebrity. While a hero and a victim to some, her bold and bullish tactics garner her some enemies — one of whom will do anything to see her go down for a crime we know she did not commit. We will watch her defend others as she fights to maintain her own innocence.
Cast includes Rachelle Lefevre, Kelsey Grammer, Russell Hornsby, Vincent Kartheiser, Nikki M. James and Riley Smith.

“THE PASSAGE”
Based on author Justin Cronin’s best‐selling trilogy of the same name, “The Passage” is an epic, character‐driven thriller about a secret government medical facility experimenting with a dangerous virus that could either cure all disease or cause the downfall of the human race. The series focuses on a 10‐year‐old girl named Amy Bellafonte, who is chosen to be a test subject for this experiment and Brad Wolgast, the Federal agent who becomes her surrogate father as he tries to protect her.
The cast includes Mark‐Paul Gosselaar, Saniyya Sidney, Vincent Piazza, Brianne Howey, Jamie McShane, Caroline Chikezie, Emmanuelle Chriqui.
Elizabeth Heldens is writer and executive producer. Jason Ensler and Marcos Siega are both credited as directors on the pilot, with Matt Reeves, Ridley Scott, David W. “THE MASKED SINGER”
Based on an international hit, which boasts half a billion fans worldwide and was the No. 1 top-trending video of 2017 on YouTube, “The Masked Singer,” features celebrities facing off against one another with one major twist: Each singer is shrouded from head to toe in an elaborate costume, complete with full face mask to conceal his or her identity.
Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke will “play detective” on the show’s panel, alongside host Nick Cannon.
“The Masked Singer” is produced by Endemol Shine North America and was developed for the U.S. and is executive-produced by Craig Plestis (“Minute to Win It,” “The Winner Is”). Izzie Pick Ibarra (“Dancing with the Stars,” “Breaking Pointe”) also serves as an executive producer, and Alex Rudzinski (“Dancing with the Stars,” “Grease: Live”) will direct. The series is based on the South Korean format created by Mun Hwa Broadcasting Corp.
“Cosmos: Possible Worlds”
Get your telescopes ready: Fox and Nat Geo are returning Seth MacFarlane’s “Cosmos” for a third season, titled “Possible Worlds.” And yes, everyone’s favorite astrophysicist Neil DeGrasse Tyson will be back as host. In the vastness of space and the immensity of time, the number of worlds to explore and stories to tell are virtually infinite.
The Emmy-winning series hails from executive producer/writer/director Ann Druyan, as well as MacFarlane, Brannon Braga and Jason Clark.

“SCHOOLED” (“The Goldbergs” spinoff)
The spinoff will be set in 1990-something and follow the hilarious teachers of William Penn Academy – led by Principal Glascott (Tim Meadows), Coach Mellor (Bryan Callen) and Lainey Lewis (AJ Michalka) — who, despite their eccentricities and crazy personal lives, are heroes to their students.
Marc Firek will write and executive produce, with story by Firek and “The Goldbergs” creator Adam F. Goldberg. Doug Robinson also executive produces. The untitled series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and ABC Studios.
“THE FIX”
Attorney and author Marcia Clark co-writes and executive produces a new legal drama about Maya Travis, an L.A. district attorney who suffers a devastating defeat when prosecuting an A-list actor for double murder. With her high-profile career derailed, she flees for a quieter life in Washington. Eight years later when this same celebrity is under suspicion for another murder, Maya Travis is lured back to the DA’s office for another chance at justice. This legal thriller is executive produced/co-written by Clark, Liz Craft and Sarah Fain, and is from Mandeville TV and ABC Studios.
“The Fix” stars Robin Tunney as Maya Travis, Adam Rayner as Matthew Collier, Merrin Dungey as CJ, Breckin Meyer as Alan Wiest, Marc Blucas as Riv, Mouzam Makkar as Loni Kampoor, Alex Saxon as Gabriel Johnson, with Scott Cohen as Ezra Wolf and Adewale Akinnouye-Agbaje as Sevvy Johnson.

“GRAND HOTEL”
Eva Longoria executive produces this drama set at the last family-owned hotel in multicultural Miami Beach. Charismatic Santiago Mendoza owns the hotel, while his glamorous second wife, Gigi, and their adult children enjoy the spoils of success. The hotel’s loyal staff round out a contemporary, fresh take on an upstairs/downstairs story. Wealthy and beautiful guests bask in luxury, but scandals, escalating debt and explosive secrets hide beneath the picture-perfect exterior. The show is based on the Spanish series.
The series stars Demian Bichir as Santiago Mendoza, Roselyn Sanchez as Gigi Mendoza, Denyse Tontz as Alicia Mendoza, Bryan Craig as Javi Mendoza, Wendy Raquel Robinson as Mrs. P, Lincoln Younes as Danny, Shalim Ortiz as Mateo, Anne Winters as Ingrid, Chris Warren as Jason, Feliz Ramirez as Carolina and Justina Adorno as Yoli.

“WHISKEY CAVALIER”
“Whiskey Cavalier” is a high-octane, hour-long action dramedy that follows the adventures of tough but tender FBI super-agent Will Chase (codename: “Whiskey Cavalier”), played by Scott Foley. Following an emotional break-up, Chase is assigned to work with badass CIA operative Francesca “Frankie” Trowbridge (codename: “Fiery Tribune”), played by Lauren Cohan. Together, they lead an inter-agency team of flawed, funny and heroic spies who periodically save the world (and each other) while navigating the rocky roads of friendship, romance and office politics. The series is from writer/executive producer Dave Hemingson and executive producer Bill Lawrence with Warner Bros. Television.

“ROSWELL, NEW MEXICO”

A revival of the very recently-canceled Fox sitcom, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” centers around the detectives at the Brooklyn Police Department’s 99th Precinct.
The cast includes Andy Samberg, Andre Braugher, Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, Joe Lo Truglio, Stephanie Beatriz, Chelsea Peretti, Dirk Blocker and Joel McKinnon Miller.

“THE TITAN GAMES”
NBC has partnered with Dwayne Johnson and Dany Garcia to produce a new large-scale physical competition series “The Titan Games,” which will feature Johnson.
The 10-episode series from Universal Television Alternative Studio (“World of Dance”), A. Smith & Co. Productions (“American Ninja Warrior”) and Seven Bucks Productions (“Rock the Troops”) will offer everyday people the opportunity to compete in epic head-to-head challenges designed to test mind, body and heart in an electrifying arena competing against one of six reigning Titans.
They will battle their opponents in remarkable feats that will require both mental stamina and physical strength. If a contender can defeat one of the existing Titans, they will take their place as a member of the elite Titan group. Once one becomes a Titan, they will need to be victorious every week to remain at the top. The season finale will end with an epic battle where the Titans compete against one another in hopes to become the last male and female standing.

The special edition of “America’s Got Talent” will bring together the “most talented, memorable, wackiest and all-around favorites” from past seasons of “AGT.” Additionally, some of the most popular acts from the other global “Got Talent” franchises, spanning 184 countries, will be joining the competition to win the love of America — and $1 million.

“THE ENEMY WITHIN”

“ABBY’S”
From the producers of “The Good Place” comes an aspirational new comedy about the best bar in San Diego, home to good prices, great company and, of course, Abby. This unlicensed, makeshift bar nestled in her backyard is the opposite of everything annoying about today’s party scene. There are rules at Abby’s: no cell phones (not even to “look something up”), earning a seat at the bar takes time and losing a challenge means drinking a limey, sugary “not-beer” drink. As the oddball cast of regulars will tell you, hanging out at Abby’s is a coveted honor. But once you’re in, you’re family.
