MANITOWOC COUNTY, Wis. — A 70-year-old Manitowoc man has died after investigators say he was hit by a semi over the weekend.

According to a news release from the Manitowoc County Sheriff, EMS crews responded to County Road CR south of Viebahn Street within the Town of Newton for a semi vs pedestrian crash.

The news release states the driver of the semi was heading northbound on County Road CR when he collided with 70-year-old James Eberhardt. Eberhardt was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in this crash.

The driver has been identified as 52-year-old John Licht. The Sheriff's Office says he was hauling milk in a tanker trailer for Wiese Trucking from Lomira. The news release from the Sheriff's Office doesn't say whether he'll face any charges.

Wisconsin State Patrol, Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office, and Manitowoc County Coronor's Office are still investigating the crash.
