Ayr man caught with knife at Tesco after having it in manicure set

A knifeman carried a blade tucked into a manicure set.

George Harvey, of Westwood Avenue, Ayr, was caught with the blade in Tesco on Whitletts Road.

Ayr Sheriff Court heard how the knife slid out of a credit card gadget. Lawyer Jill Molloy said: “It seems to be a manicure set. He had no idea it was an illegal item.”

Harvey, 45, admitted having a lock knife on October 31. Sheriff Mhairi Mactaggart said having the blade in public was serious offence. Harvey will be supervised for 18 months.
