Nostalgic Amusement Ride Returns To Arnolds Park

Arnolds Park, Iowa — Arnolds Park Amusement Park has announced that a ride which was popular with youngsters more than forty years ago will be returning to the park this summer.

The Wild Mouse roller coaster is characterized by small cars carrying two people taking tight turns at moderate speeds. However, this ride isn’t all that new to the park. In 1958, The Wild Mouse debuted in the park and was one of the most thrilling rides in the 1960s and ’70s, according to Arnolds Park Amusement Park Marketing Director Paul Plumb. Plumb calls the Wild Mouse a nice fit for the park.

Plumb says the Wild Mouse was an icon of the Arnolds Park Amusement Park from the late 1950s into the 1970s.

The new ride, formerly known as The Mad Mouse, was manufactured by the Allan Herschell Company out of New York in 1959 and is now being relocated from Joyland Amusement Park in Lubbock, Texas after nearly 45 years. Joyland Amusement park is planning a new ride for themselves this season, The Sandstorm Roller, and needed space.

Plumb says there is a great deal of excitement about bringing such a nostalgic ride back to the park.

He says as long as the weather cooperates they plan to have the Wild Mouse in operation by Memorial Day Weekend, the opening of the 2019 Arnolds Park Amusement Park season.
