Catch of the day! Fishing vessel rescues three men stranded in the ocean after their small boat capsized
- The men were fishing in Palm Springs, Florida, US when they got into trouble
- After the boat capsized two took to the water while one stood on upturned hull
- Rescuers happened to spot distressed fishermen from their chartered boat
- One man was reluctant to leave his personal possessions in the upturned boat
This is the nail biting moment three stranded fishermen are saved from the ocean near Palm Beach, Florida, yesterday after a fishing trip went wrong when their small boat capsized.
The men find themselves helpless after their small fishing vessel, approximately 5 metres in length, capsizes off the coast of Palm Springs, Florida, US.
Two of the men are submerged in the Atlantic ocean clinging to the side of their capsized boat while one stands on the upturned hull seeking help.
In a stroke of luck a much bigger fishing vessel, manned by two fishermen who had rented the boat for a trip, spotted the distressed men as they passed by and came to their aid.
The stranded men who appear to be middle age scrabble to get up on to the neighbouring boat with the help of the two rescuers.
One man on the rescue boat shouts: 'Thank god for it being a nice day so we can save you guys here man.'
Although the rescuers thank god for the good weather, their large boat rocks from side to side as they attempt to get the men to safety.
With an average sea temperature of 59 F in February and strong sun, the men would have suffered exhaustion after a few hours if help had not come.
The three men are saved one by one as the two rescuers strain to lift the men on to their rented boat
Despite having already been through a traumatic experience one of the boat-less fishermen asks for a mask and says he wants to attempt to rescue a 'red box' inside of the upturned vessel - likely containing valuable items or fishing tackle equipment.
The men on the 'rescue team' say they do not have a mask and urge him not to go back under the water to retrieve the box, putting himself in yet more danger.
The rescuers shouted to the man submerged in the water: 'Honestly you shouldn't go under there. Listen they will come and get your boat.'
They remind him that the boat will be removed from the water and the stranded fisherman reluctantly agrees to leave his possessions behind putting his safety first.
The Atlantic waters around Palm Springs are home to sailfish, dolphin, cobia, blackfin tuna, bonito, snapper, grouper, amberjack and sharks. Attracting many fishermen to visit the area in calm weather for prize catches.
The upturned boat drifts to the right of the rescue boat as they attempt to bring the first man aboard. Calm waters on the day made for good fishing conditions and a much easier rescue for the lucky fishermen
