Sara Gilbert and wife Linda Perry get baby son Rhodes into the festive spirit with a cute knitted reindeer hat as they head out for family lunch

There's still five weeks to go until Christmas comes along.

But Sara Gilbert and her wife Linda Perry were getting their baby son Rhodes, eight months, into the festive spirit nice and early as they kitted him out in a cute woolly hat complete with mini reindeer antlers for a family lunch date at Cafe Gratitude in Los Angeles on Sunday.

The actress, 40, and her rock singer spouse, 50, looked every inch the happy family as they wandered to the restaurant with their adorable little one.

Festively dressed Rhodes, who the couple welcomed at the end of February, looked content attached to Linda's chest in a baby carrier.

The tot was cradled carefully by the former 4 Non Blondes band member, who protectively held her arms around the bottom of the carrier to ensure he was safe at all times.

The sweet little bundle of joy was also dressed in a blue and cream long sleeved jumper, keeping out the November chill.

Sara and Linda both looked casual for their lunch out, in matching ensembles of denim shirts and loose-fitting black trousers.

Linda went for a tan oversized bowler hat, an accessory she's often seen in, while Sara opted for a black and white striped scarf.

The couple had been playing their guitars on Saturday night at an in-store performance and CD signing for Deer Sounds, an album of children's music they created together, inspired by the birth of the son, at Barnes & Noble at The Grove, Los Angeles.

Since welcoming Rhodes, the couple say they have watched his personality develop, which Linda described as 'pretty independent' to People.

She said, 'He's pretty vocal, for sure. I think what we're finding out about him is that he definitely has a really set personality. He's pretty independent.

'I know he's my son, but I think he's really special. There's not enough words I can say about him. He has a great spirit,' the rock musician added.
