Jonathan Pogreba, who had been on the run and was considered armed and dangerous, was arrested Thursday. Watch the video.

WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI — Jonathan Pogreba, the 43-year-old man who has been considered armed and dangerous, who fled through western Wisconsin after being accused of exchanging gunfire with family members, walked into the Waukesha County Courthouse Thursday afternoon - and was taken into custody by authorities.

Pogreba and his attorney made his initial appearance on June 21 at 1:15 p.m. before court official Sara Scullen.

Records also indicate that on June 19, his attorney filed a notice of retainer, submitted an eFiled document payment, and requested a demand for discovery and inspection with the court. A demand for discovery and inspection means that the state must provide copies of any and all evidence that state prosecutors have to the attorney for the defendant.

Pogreba has been charged with misdemeanor battery, disorderly conduct, second-degree recklessly endangering safety and intentionally pointing a firearm at a person. Each charge carries additional domestic abuse and dangerous weapon modifiers, which means he may face additional incarceration time if he is convicted.

Official say that on Tuesday, June 5, just before 3 p.m., they received a call regarding an incident involving a man with a gun.

Based on witness statements, authorities said it was an incident involving Pogreba, 43. They reported that a weapon was fired during the domestic dispute and that deputies tried to find Pogreba, who went on the run.

Waukesha County Sheriff Eric Severson said that the dispute was between Pogreba and his wife and that another family member fired a shotgun in Pogreba's "general direction," and may have wounded Pogreba.
Severson said Pogreba shot a firearm at other family members as he fled the scene.

Authorities in Waukesha County say the incident occurred at an address on Wilton Road west of Highway 59 in the Town of Eagle.

Exchange Of Gunfire Following Domestic Incident

Officials delivered an update shortly after the initial report of the incident, stating that they learned more about the interaction between Pogreba and family members that involved an exchange of gunfire earlier this month.

"We have learned, during this domestic incident, that gunfire was exchanged between family members. None of the family members that we have had contact with have been injured by gun fire," the Waukesha County Sheriff's Office said in a statement Wednesday morning. "We have not been able to confirm whether or not Jonathan Pogreba has been injured. It is possible that he may be, but again, we have not been able to confirm that. We do believe he is still armed and dangerous."
