John Oliver’s gay children’s book on Mike Pence’s bunny sells out

John Oliver’s gay rights-promoting parody book about Vice President Mike Pence’s pet bunny sold out in a day, the late-night host revealed Tuesday.

The “Last Week Tonight” funnyman told “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” that more copies of “A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo” are being printed, following its release Sunday night.

“We were not anticipating people really buying it,” Oliver told DeGeneres. “But they’re doing a reprint so you can still buy it.”

The tome, which was in first place on the Amazon bestseller charts Tuesday morning, is a send-up of a children’s book written by Pence’s wife and daughter that was released Monday.

The Pences’ version, which is in fourth place, is about the job of the vice president as seen from Bundo’s perspective.

Oliver’s satire is about Bundo falling in love with another male bunny — then battling a Pence-esque character so they can get married.

“He clearly, to put it in the nicest possible terms, is not a friend of the LGBTQ community, Mike Pence,” Oliver said on “Ellen.” “And so we … have written a book about his bunny, where his bunny falls in love with another male bunny. Because that’s the world we want to live in.”
