Fager’s Island offers second helping of Shell Shocked event for music lovers

A number of events featuring live music are on tap at local nightspots, including a sequel to an event that occurred just last week.

Fager’s Island In Ocean City held its sold-out Shell Shocked oyster eat Nov. 3, featuring music by Sweet Leda. The followup event, Shell Shocked II, will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10. Tickets ($52) remained, but were expected to sell out at the door if not sooner. Local band Opposite Directions will be accompanied by a horn section to provide the soundtrack.

In Sussex County, the Milton Theatre has a pair of back-to-back tribute acts set for this weekend. Philadelphia-based Think Pink Floyd will take the stage at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9 ($26, $32), and the venue has issued a “low ticket alert.” At 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, the theater will present Jesse Garron’s Tribute to Elvis ($18, $25).

In downtown Rehoboth Beach, the Dogfish Head brewpub has a pair of shows by singer-songwriters scheduled.

Brooklyn, N.Y.’s Zephaniah OHora will play a mix of country and Americana songs from his “This Highway” album on Friday, Nov. 9. Acoustic punk rocker Austin Lucas, who recently wrapped up a national tour, will play songs from his “Immortal Americans” LP on Saturday, Nov. 10. Both shows are freebies, and each begins at 10 p.m.

Back in OC, the music lineup for the annual Ocean 98 Listener & Seacrets Customer Appreciation Christmas Party has been announced. It will take place 5-10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, and will include performers Ballyhoo frontman Howi Spangler, Sweet Leda, The Swell Fellas, The Rogue Citizens, Nelson Emokpae of Kelly’s Echo and Melissa Alesi. Admission is free, but attendees are asked to bring an unwrapped gift for the Toys for Tots charity.

Local singer-songwriter Sean Loomis will play Pickles Pub in Ocean City at 9:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 10.

Milton native Jimmie Allen, who recently appeared on NBC’s "Today" show, is morphing intro a bonafide country music star. Tickets quickly sold out for the two concerts he will perform in one day at the Rusty Rudder in Dewey Beach on Dec. 22. However, tickets are now on sale for another Sussex concert in the new year. Allen will play the Harrington Raceway & Casino at 8 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 9 ($34).
