UPDATED: Cam Gigandet is reuniting with his Magnificent Seven director Antoine Fuqua for a starring role in Ice, Fuqua’s drama series for A&T’s Audience network. Jeremy Sisto will star opposite Gigandet in the project, along with Donald Sutherland and Ray Winstone, I have learned.
The 10-episode Ice, from Fuqua’s Fuqua Films and Entertainment One, was named after the slang word for diamonds. Written/exec produced by Robert Munic, it follows the Green family as they plunge into the underbelly of the L.A. diamond trade. Jake (Gigandet) and Freddy (Sisto) are half-brothers brought together by their father Isaac, the patriarch behind G&G Diamonds, and their uncle Cam (Winstone). After wild card Freddy kills a prominent diamond dealer, Jake must bail him out and save the family business while maneuvering among jewelry thugs, blood-diamond deals, false certificates and the feds. Sutherland plays Pieter Van De Bruin, a ruthless Afrikaanz diamond merchant who now heads a Antwerp-based diamond cartel.
Fuqua will direct the first episode and serve as executive producer on the show, which begins production this month in Vancouver for a premiere later this year.
In addition to co-starring in the upcoming Magnificent Seven remake, Gigandet toplined the CBS drama series Reckless. He is repped by UTA and Luber Roklin. Six Feet Under and Law & Order alum Sisto recently starred in the ABC drama pilot The Jury. He is repped by Gersh and MGMT Entertainment. CAA-repped Sutherland played President Snow in the Hunger Games movie franchise, Winstone starred on ABC’s Of Kings and Prophets.
