TISO Group, the outdoor retail chain, is hitting the north for its latest store opening.

The company, which can trace its roots back to 1962, will launch its 16th outlet in Aviemore next year, following an investment of more than £1 million. It will be the first store to be launched by Tiso since high street retailer JD Sports acquired a controlling stake in the Scottish business four years ago.

Around 30 jobs are expected to be created in the Highland town because of the investment, with the store to open in Aviemore’s £10 million Myrtefield Retail Park.

Tiso said the unit, which will span around 12,000 square feet across its ground and mezzanine floors, will mark the evolution of its Outdoor Experience concept, bringing together its Tiso, Alpine Bikes and Blues the Ski Shop brands. Chief executive Chris Tiso said opening in Aviemore is the “natural next step for us”, noting: “I am immensely proud to confirm the opening of our exciting new Tiso Aviemore Outdoor Experience store. Aviemore is Scotland’s adventure capital and is renowned as a destination for people of all ages to access and enjoy the variety offered by the local mountains, forests, lochs and rivers.”
