We all know by now that Half-Life 3 will never happen, but it seems like Valve Corporation are at least throwing us a bone by giving us a brand new Portal game.

Kind of.

You see, the newest entry in the critically acclaimed sci-fi puzzle franchise is not just a spin-off, but a crossover with popular mobile game series Bridge Constructor.

It's aptly named Bridge Constructor Portal, and here's a trailer:

To be fair, we've always thought that's Portal's physics based gameplay could work well in a mobile format, and Bridge Constructor's, errrm, bridge construction is actually quite addictive.

Of course, part of the appeal of Portal is the humour, with GLaDOS's sadistic nature and especially Stephen Merchant's bumbling Wheatley from the sequel.

Will that humour cross over to the mobile spin-off? Will it be full of intrusive microtransactions?

We are going to have to wait until December 20 when Bridge Constructor Portal launches on iOS, Android, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and, of course, Steam.

Also, Valve, if this does well to renew interest in the Portal brand, you could always give the first two games a re-release on PS4 and especially Switch.

DOOM, Skyrim and LA Noire recently had ports on the Big N's new handheld/console hybrid, and playing console games on the go just works, so get on it please.
