Adrien "The Problem" Broner has won two consecutive fights since a unanimous decision loss to Marcos Maidana in December 2013, and now things Maidana is fearful of giving him a rematch.
"Pacquiao or Maidana," Broner said when asked who he wanted next. "He [Maidana] don't want to fight me though. You know why. I gave him the toughest fight on my worst night. I gave him the toughest fight for his career on my worst night."
That claim may be dubious; Maidana went on to face Floyd Mayweather Jr., the top pound-for-pound fighter in the world, two times and lost both bouts. Still, Broner insists the loss to Maidana was his own doing.
"That was one of my funnest fights I was ever in. It was fun. I can't wait for it to happen again. That's a fight that changed my life for the better. That was a fight that I know I wasn't supposed to lose. I beat myself. He didn't beat me. I could have did some things different. That's why I changed the way I move now. I'm happy I lost early in my career," Broner said.
He has beaten Carlos Molina and Emmanuel Taylor at junior welterweight in his last two fights, a step down from 147 pounds where Maidana defeated him. Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach has mentioned a move down to junior welterweight after facing Chris Algieri, but Pacquiao's camp appears focused on a fight with Danny Garcia, not Broner.
"I like that fight," Roach said of Garcia. "His Dad's a little bit crazy - he's my friend and a good guy - but he's just doing what he's supposed to do, he's taking guys out of their element. He talks a lot of s**t and I think that's honestly how they beat Amir Khan.
"I would just laugh at him. Manny Pacquiao doesn't give a s**t about trash talk. It won't affect him in the slightest."
