The Lost Bayou Ramblers and their “Kalenda” album were winners of the Best Regional Roots Album Sunday at the 60th Grammy Awards in New York City.

Lafayette native and zydeco accordionist Dwayne Dopsie was nominated in the same category, which also includes Native American, Hawaiian, polka and New Orleans brass bands.

Taj Mahal and Keb Mo won Best Contemporary Blues Album. Guitarist Sonny Landreth and his “Recorded Live in Lafayette” CD was nominated in the album.

The band’s eighth album in their two decades together, “Kalenda” features the Ramblers’ mix of Cajun accordion, fiddle and French lyrics, with elements of rock, punk and world music influences.

Last week, the Ramblers announced an indefinite hiatus from performing. They will honor shows that have been scheduled through May.

The Ramblers were nominees in 2008 for their “Live A La Blue Moon,” the first year of the now defunct Best Zydeco or Cajun Music Album Grammy.
