Days of the Dead Returns July 5-7

Days of teh Dead comvention brings celebrities, events, fun and friends to Indy for three days of horror-related entertainment.

Days of the Dead returns to Indianapolis July 5-7. The horror con debuted in Indianapolis in 2011 and has gotten bigger and better ever since.

William Shatner headlines an excellent celebrity guest lineup. Fifty years after he starred as Captain Kirk on tv's Star Trek, Shatner is as popular as ever and will draw a huge line of fans to meet him.

The star power continues with the rest of the celebrity lineup. That list includes Kathleen Turner (Body Heat), Edward Furlong (Terminator 2), Sid Haig (The Devils Rejects), Bill Moseley (The Devils Rejects), CJ Graham (Friday the 13th Part VI), Roger L. Jackson (Scream), Dennis Christopher (Fade to Black), Damien Leone and David Howard Thornton (Terrifier), Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp) and more.

From the wrestling ring, Olympian and multi-time pro wrestling champ Kurt Angle will be on hand. Joining Angle is wrestling legend Sgt. Slaughter, one of only two people to have a GI Joe figure (Roddy Piper is the other). Dustin “Goldust” Rhodes rounds out the wrestling contingent. Some will ask why wrestlers are at a horror con, but the hundreds in line to meet them really are the answer.

There are also many other events at the convention. Kiss Resurrection is performing on Saturday night. With two convention days done, Saturday night is usually the time when everyone unwinds a bit and Kiss Resurrection is a great way to get that started.

Of course, there are also panels, discussions, a tattoo contest, karaoke and lots of other fun. There is plenty to do all weekend The Days crew does a great job in scheduling to allow everyone to attend as many events as possible.

There are many great vendors, too. Over the years, I have bought much more than I planned to buy, because I keep finding cool stuff. Artists, authors, and other merchandisers offer such cool stuff. Even if you don't buy things, it is always fun to check out their original or unique stuff.

One last part of Days that I must mention is the friendships. Every year, it is like a big reunion. Some folks I met at the first Days, some at various Days events since and some just common friends who also attend Days. No matter how long I have known them or how we met, it is always special catching up with so many friends. Sometimes I spend more time hanging with friends than focusing on my convention goals.

Days of the Dead is a three day weekend of a lot of fun. Celebrities, events, friends and more come together to make this a special event and a “can't miss” on my yearly calendar. I hope to see a bunch of friends and make some new ones this year!
