Former Attorney General Eric Holder slammed Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Monday night for firing the deputy FBI director, and said Sessions needs to be able to stand up to President Trump and not do everything he wants.
“You’re the attorney general of the United States. You run the damn Justice Department, you know?” Holder said in remarks at Georgetown University on Monday night.
“And you’ve got to have the guts to look at the president every now and again and say, ‘no,'” he said.

Conservatives quickly rejected Holder’s comments, and noted on Twitter that Holder himself was held in contempt for lying to Congress. Conservatives have also pointed out that Holder once boasted that he was President Obama’s “wingman,” and said “I’m there with my boy” when asked in 2013 if he was leaving his office.
