HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - It's a weekend a lot of you have been waiting for. The three-day long tax-free holiday starts Friday!

But do you know what you can buy without sales tax?

Yes, everything pretty much gets grouped into four different categories. Clothes, books, electronics, and school supplies. Each item has a price point though.

Clothes like shirts, pants, athletic apparel, even diapers are tax-free if they are under $100.

Shoes under $100. Books under $30, School supplies under $50 and electronics under $750 are all tax-free.

But remember, not everything on your list will be tax-free.

"Like paper towels, hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes, tissues, so make sure you look at the list of tax-exempt items and compare it against your school supply list to make sure there are no surprises when you go to check out," said Melissa Warnke, Alabama Retail Association.

You may also be wondering, is it tax-free online as well?

That answer is yes! As long as you are shipping to an Alabama address.
