Swimming legend Michael Phelps’ personal life continues to make a splash.

The iconic Olympian took part in a surprise formal wedding ceremony with wife Nicole Johnson in Cabo on Saturday, days after reports surfaced that the pair has legally been married since June, according to Us Weekly.

The intimate ceremony was held at El Dorado Golf and Beach Club in the scenic Mexican city, where roughly 50 friends and family — including their 5-month-old son Boomer — watched as the newlyweds walked down the aisle.

“Truly the happiest day of my life,” Johnson, who has since changed her last name on social media to Phelps, captioned an Instagram photo from their big day.

Phelps, 31, also shared a heartfelt snapshot from the beachfront ceremony, captioned simply, “My best friend…. I love you!!”

The couple officially got married on June 13th in Paradise Valley, Ariz., after receiving their marriage license four days prior, TMZreported last week.

That ceremony took place several weeks before Phelps dove into the Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympics, where he finished first in five events to extend his record-breaking gold medal count to 23.

Phelps, who began his on-and-off romance with Johnson in 2007, popped the question in February 2015.

Johnson — a former Miss California pageant winner — hinted they were nearing their nuptials this past August, even though they had already legally tied the knot.

“It’ll be small and intimate for the wedding, and then we’re throwing a massive bash,” she told Access Hollywood.
