GIRLS BASKETBALL

St. Joseph 63, Quincy Robert F. Munroe 10

The Flashes opened the season with a convincing win in the North Florida Conference tournament on Monday night. Jessamy Gaetanos led St. Joseph with 25 points, nine steals and four assists. Sophomore Gabby Williams added 14 points, six rebounds and two assists. In all, 10 St. Joseph players scored and the Flashes forced 26 steals. St. Joseph (1-0) will face Monticello Aucilla Christian tonight.

GIRLS SOCCER

St. Joseph 5, Bishop Snyder 2

A brace from both Maggie Tibbitts and Sarah Patuel helped St. Joseph win its first game of the season on Monday night. Sophomore Liz Nowak scored her first varsity goal and Charlotte Maneely provided three assists for the Flashes (1-2).

Bartram Trail 3, Oviedo 1

Bartram Trail remained undefeated on the season with Monday’s victory. Jordan Follenweider, Logan Henley and Jovi Cernatescu scored for the Bears (2-0-1).

PRO BASKETBALL

St. Augustine Glory win opener

St. Augustine Glory point guard Clarence Tillman hit a jumper with 25 seconds remaining to help the team to a 96-92 win over the Florida All-Stars on Saturday evening.

Clarence Tillman led the Glory with 26 points and eight rebounds while Eric Ruffin added 12 points, seven assists and three steals. The Glory (1-0) will host the St. Pete Tide on Dec. 1. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at St. Augustine High School.

St. Augustine graduate Jarrell ends collegiate career with Columbus State

Lee University used a 63rd goal from Lauren Weimer to eliminate Columbus State University 1-0 in Sunday’s NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer Quarterfinal. Columbus State’s loss ends the collegiate career of St. Augustine High graduate Olivia Jarrell, who scored 71 goals and provided 29 assists during her collegiate career, including 17 goals and 11 assists this year. Jarell’s overtime goal in Friday’s Southeast Region final propelled the Cougars (18-1-2) into Sunday’s NCAA quarterfinal.
