Irvington man is tied up and shot by burglars

IRVINGTON — A 59-year-old Irvington resident was robbed, tied up and then shot in the face by one of three people who came to his Stuyvesant Avenue apartment shortly after midnight this morning, police said.

The victim was shot once in the cheek but survived. He was listed in stable condition at University Hospital, police said.

Officers were called to the apartment building by neighbors who heard the man’s cries for help, according to police.

The victim told police that two men and one woman rang his doorbell, entered and demanded money. After he turned over an undetermined amount of cash, a struggle ensued and the trio tied him up before one of the three shot him once, according to the account he gave police.
