MOUNT RAINIER, Md. (WJLA) - An elderly couple is dead after a fire at a Mount Rainier home Thursday morning and one of their bodies was found hanging from a window, according to authorities.

The Prince George's County Fire Department said the fire happened at a house at 34th Street and Eastern Avenue and that crews arrived at the scene around 6 a.m. As many as 65 firefighters were called to the scene.

Fire officials said the house had hoarding conditions and most likely had no smoke detector.

The D.C. Fire Department said its crews were filling in at Station 1 in Hyattsville because of the blaze.

Officials said the cause of the fire remains undetermined.
