Fatal fire reported in Nicholas County

NICHOLAS COUNTY, WV (WCHS/WVAH) — The West Virginia Fire Marshal’s Office said a 70-year-old woman died in a mobile home fire in Nicholas County.

Jason Baltic, deputy state fire marshal, said the blaze occurred on Upper Anglin Road in Levisay. The area is near Mount Lookout.

Fire marshals responded to the scene about 4 a.m. Thursday. The Wilderness Volunteer Fire Department fought the blaze.

Three other adults, the woman’s adult children, two men and a woman, escaped from the residence and were not injured. One of the men had to jump through a window to get out.

There were working smoking alarms in the residence.

No cause has been determined due to the severity of the fire, but the blaze does not appear to be suspicious.

The mobile home was destroyed.
