This is the moment a busker singing a hit by Eighties pop group Bronski Beat got the shock of his life when the band's former frontman Jimmy Somerville stopped to join in.

The musician was playing the British band's song Smalltown Boy when Somerville heard him and decided to perform an impromptu duet.

The diminutive singer, who appeared to be out walking his dog when he heard the busker looked delighted to join in.

When the pair finished the song the busker asked Somerville "is it you?"

The Eighties star said "it's me."

The busker thanked the bald singer as he walked away.

The video has had hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube - demonstrating the enduring popularity of the song and the band.

Somerville helped form Bronski Beat in 1983 before leaving in 1985 to form the Communards - which was also successful in the charts.

Smalltown Boy reached number three in the UK singles chart.

Somerville famously played the main character in the video to the song.
