Licensed Maine attorneys can now register with the Board of Overseers of the Bar using a new online service. The Attorney Registration Service (http://www.mebaroverseers.org/myboardaccess) replaces the former paper process by allowing attorneys that are actively registered with the Board to complete their registration online and securely submit their payment with a credit or debit card.

Previously, all registrations were partially filled out, printed, and sent via postal mail by the Board. When an attorney received their registration form, they had to complete the required fields, mail the full document back to the Board, and their staff had to manually input this data into a local database.

“The new online service is a tremendous resource to both our staff and members of the Maine bar,” said Jacqueline Rogers, Executive Director of the Board of Overseers of the Bar. “Eliminating paper forms and postage costs will save both parties time and money, creating new efficiencies and reducing expenses.”

With this new service staff members are given access to an administrative site where they can review any registration requests that have that been submitted in the current registration cycle. Once the request has been approved, the data is imported into the Board's local database.

The online service was developed at no cost to Maine taxpayers and was created by the Board of Overseers of the Bar in partnership with the state's e-government portal provider, InforME. Attorney Registration adds to the suite of licensing services available through Maine.gov, which continues to be the premiere resource for online business information and services.
