Don Johnson will not be among the millions of ticketbuyers lining up for “Fifty Shades of Grey” next Valentine’s Day — even though the film marks his daughter’s first major movie role.
Dakota Johnson, the 24-year-old daughter of the “Miami Vice” actor and Melanie Griffitth, is currently filming the movie adaptation of E.L. James’ erotic S&M themed novel.
“It’s not something I would go to anyway,” the elder Johnson, 64, told London’s Telegraph.
“I probably will not see it just because it’s not a movie I would see. I’ve never seen ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ I’ve never seen ‘Twilight.’ It’s in a category of films that I just wouldn’t be interested in.”
But Don Jonson stressed to The Telegraph that he wasn’t steering clear of the movie out of discomfort with watching his little girl act in steamy sex scenes.
“I don’t know whether it is (embarassing) or not, this is the family business,” he said in the interview for the newspaper’s Seven magazine. “We portray characters and this is the character that Dakota is portraying.
“It’s difficult for people to separate who we are from the characters we portray, but not for me.”
“Fifty Shades” is a huge career boost for his daughter. Before getting cast as Anastasia Steele, Dakota Johnson’s biggest credit had been Fox sitcom “Ben and Kate.”
And the stunner didn’t seem to have any issues with getting approval from her parents to take the part.
“I don’t have any problem doing anything,” Johnson told Elle Magazine in March.
“The secret is I have no shame.”
