Jamie Lee Curtis revisits her days in 'The Fog'

Jamie Lee Curtis is finding herself stuck in The Fog all over again.

The 1980 John Carpenter horror film sees a collector's edition Blu-ray release on Tuesday, and it's a good chance to check out Curtis join fellow "scream queens" Adrienne Barbeau and Curtis' mother, Janet Leigh, in a tale about dead shipwrecked souls coming back under the guise of a spooky fog and wreaking havoc on a Northern California town.

In a new interview for the Blu-ray, Curtis tells of how Carpenter, her director on 1978's original Halloween, called her up because she hadn't worked in a while and told her he'd write a part in The Fog for her.

In the movie, Curtis stars as Elizabeth Solley, a rebellious rich girl who is picked up by Nick Castle (Tom Atkins) while hitchhiking, and they drive right into all the weirdness. The actress hadn't seen The Fog in a while, and when she revisited it for the Blu-ray, "I forgot that she jumps into bed with him very quickly. It's pretty chaste — it's hardly gratuitous on any level," she says.

The character jibed well with her, Curtis adds, "not that I was jumping into bed with people."

Other extras in the set include a commentary by Atkins, Barbeau and production designer Tommy Lee Wallace, plus one featuring Carpenter, a retrospective with director of photography Dean Cundey about working with Carpenter, and a featurette on The Fog's filming locations.
