Taylor Lustig, Sean Savett

Taylor Jaye Lustig and Sean David Savett were married July 14 at the Standard Club in Chicago. Rabbi Debra Nesselson officiated, with Rabbi Linda J. Holtzman, a maternal aunt of the groom, taking part in the ceremony.

Ms. Lustig, 28, is a government and external affairs manager in the Washington office of PepsiCo, the food and beverage manufacturing company in Purchase, N.Y. From 2014 to 2016 she worked at the Obama White House as a policy adviser in the domestic policy council. She graduated with highest honors from the University of Texas at Austin.

She is a daughter of Randi H. Lustig and Daniel J. Lustig of Deerfield, Ill. The bride’s father is the executive vice president at Arbor Research and Trading, an institutional bond research and trading firm in Barrington, Ill. Her mother, who retired as the owner of the Contemporary Group, a fashion jewelry distributor that was in Northbrook, Ill., is now an independent costume jewelry designer in Deerfield.

Mr. Savett, 27, works in Washington as the press secretary for United States Senator Tammy Duckworth, Democrat of Illinois. He graduated cum laude from the University of Rochester.

He is the son of Cindy Savett and Robert A. Savett of Merion, Pa. The groom’s mother, a poet, has written four collections including “Child in the Road” (Parlor Press, 2007) and “Rachel: In the Temporary Mist of Prayer” (Big Game Books, 2007). She teaches poetry and writing as a volunteer at psychiatric hospitals in the Philadelphia area. His father is the chief operating officer and the vice president of marketing at Sage Scholars, a college savings and tuition rewards company in Philadelphia.

The couple met in January 2013 during a Democratic Party happy hour at a crowded dive bar in Washington, but when Ms. Lustig said hello to Mr. Savett a couple of days later at a local coffee shop, he did not recognize her. After she explained that she just got a haircut with bangs, he recalled meeting her, or at least pretended to, and soon they began dating.
