Man Is Critical After Being Struck By Vehicle In Maywood: Police

The man was hit in a crosswalk on West Spring Avenue, police said.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A man is in critical condition after he was struck by a car Tuesday in Maywood, police said.

The man was in a crosswalk on Spring Valley Avenue when he was hit at about 2 p.m., Maywood Police Chief David Pegg.

The man was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center in critical condition, Pegg said. A family member was with him, he said.

Maywood and Paramus police officers responded to the scene, along with the Bergen County Prosecutor's Fatal Accident Investigations Unit, who is investigating the incident, Pegg said.

West Spring Valley Road was closed, creating traffic jams in and near the Bergen Towne Center shopping plaza, Pegg said.
