BML Munjal University

Hyderabad: President of India, Pranab Mukherjee in his latest visit to BML Munjal University, Gurgaon congratulated the university for bagging place among the finest private universities in the country. The President commended the university for its efforts towards research and innovation and hands-on and cross-disciplinary learning.

Speaking on the occasion, the President said, “I am happy to dedicate BML Munjal University to the nation. In less than 10 years from now, nearly 140 million people will be in the college-going age group. The onus is on the higher-education institutions to prepare students to be globally relevant and sensitive to the needs of socio-economy.

Brijmohan Lall Munjal knew the importance of learning skills and the value of being practical. True to this philosophy, BMU has been modelled on the principle of practicality, which is unique in India’s higher education landscape today. I hope that such an effort is emulated by others venturing into this noble field.

Albert Einstein said, “I never teach my pupils, I only attempt to provide the conditions in which they can learn. BML Munjal University provides a fine learning environment and as the saying goes, the mind grows by what it feeds on”.

I echo the President’s views that research-led education is fundamental to nation-building. In developing countries the research universities have crucial roles to play in creating differentiated and effective academic systems, and in making it possible for their countries to join the global knowledge society”.
