National Mathematics Day observance

A five-day along National Mathematics Day observance being organized by Manipur Science and Technology Council (MASTEC) began from Wednesday at Manipur Science Aquarium located within DM College campus here wherein around 35 students from ten schools participated.
The inaugural function was attended by Rajesh Agrawal, Commissioner (Science & Technology), Government of Manipur and Th Surendranath Singh, Director of Manipur Science and Technology Council as Chief Guest and President respectively.
Addressing the gathering, Rajesh Agrawal explained that the National Mathematics Day is being observed in recognition of the pivotal role played by Mathematics in development of human mankind and civilization and pointed out that the subject is instrumental in solving many puzzles.
He exhorted the students to cultivate morality, good language along with scientific temper for bringing success in their lives and mentioned that the numerical number 0 was invented by India which is one of the baselines of Mathematics.
A total of 28 science models were presented on the opening day of the observance.
