Damon will express a renewed hope to return home while Elena will get ready to celebrate her college Homecoming in the next episode of "The Vampire Diaries."

In a sneak peek video of the upcoming episode, which is titled "The World Has Turned and Left Me Here," Alaric tells his students about the "supernatural origin" of Whitmore College's Homecoming party. According to an urban myth, back in the 1800's a solider returned home from fighting in the Civil War and found his lover in bed with his brother. In a fit of rage, he killed his brother in cold blood and chased the love of his life into the corn fields. Now, the woman runs through the corn field each year during their Homecoming celebration, says Alaric.

"Legend goes that Lady Whitmore is out on this night, every year, dressed in White, covered in her lover's blood, running through the corn fields, screaming for her life," he says in the video promo.

A clip from the trailer video shows a woman who is dressed in 19th century clothes and covered in blood running through a corn maze in sheer fear. She then bumps into another woman and lets out a piercing scream.

Another teaser clip shows Damon feeling hopeful about returning to Mystic Falls to see Elena. However, Bonnie reminds him that their trip home is contingent upon Kai, who they discovered is a sociopathic killer who murdered his siblings.

"I have a hot date with my girl tonight," Damon tells Bonnie in reference to seeing Elena. "I'm thinking dinner and a movie. You know what? Screw the dinner and the movie, skip straight to the good part."

That's when Bonnie reminds him that she's not sure she can do a the spell to get them back to the present.

In the meantime, Tyler will face the reality that he may be turning back into a werewolf.

According to Dread Central, the official synopsis says:

"With Homecoming around the corner, Elena (Nina Dobrev) invites Liam (guest star Marco James) to attend a party at the corn maze with her. Instead of attending the homecoming festivities, Caroline (Candice Accola) is preoccupied after Stefan (Paul Wesley) shows up unexpectedly and needs her help cleaning up a mess created by Enzo (Michael Malarkey).

"Heeding Elena's advice to be more social, Alaric (Matt Davis) reluctantly attends the party, but a devastating accident quickly leaves him and Jo (guest star Jodi Lyn O'Keefe) rushing to save lives. Elsewhere, Tyler (Michael Trevino) finds himself in a dangerous position when his werewolf curse is put to the test, and an emotionally embattled Stefan comes clean to Caroline about his intent to move on from Mystic Falls.

"Lastly, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Bonnie (Kat Graham) make an important discovery that affects their quest to get back home. Leslie Libman directed the episode written by Brett Matthews."

Season 6 Episode 5 of "The Vampire Diaries," "The World Has Turned and Left Me Here," will air on The CW on Thursday, Oct. 30, at 8 p.m. EST.
