Three star defensive back Renardo Green commits to Florida State

The Seminoles stay hot on the recruiting trail

Renardo Green

Fresh off the spring game and a huge recruiting weekend in which Florida State hosted a number of top recruits, the ’Noles have secured a commitment from Renardo Green out of Wekiva High School in Apopka, Florida. Green ranks 382nd in the nation, 35th at his position, and 52nd within the state of Florida just on the cusp of four-star status.

Green visited FSU for the spring game and the coaching staff decided to offer shortly after the visit. The offer and commitment is a bit of a surprise as there has not been a ton of noise around Green and Florida State. Wekiva is also the home of fellow four stars Rian Davis and Tyler Davis.

Florida State already has commitments from two of the top defensive backs in the state of Florida in Akeem Dent and Travis Jay and plans to take 5 defensive backs this cycle after only taking four in the 2018 signing class.

Green is listed at 5’11 and 170 pounds and plays corner-back for his high school team. He plays much bigger than his size. As you can see in the highlight from his junior season below, Green has excellent ball skills and is very physical with opposing receivers. He has that swagger that Florida State fans have become accustom to seeing in the secondary over the years.

Defensive Coordinator Harlon Barnett played a big role in Green’s recruitment. With this commitment, Florida State’s class now ranks #1 in the nation for 2019 via 247 Sports’ composite rankings.
