Madison, WI (WJBF) — Augusta’s Larry Mize has been playing well lately on the Champions Tour. He hopes to continue that good play this week in Wisconsin in the debut of a new event.

Mize is competing in the first ever American Family Insurance Championship in Madison, Wisconsin. He’s excited about playing in a new tournament, “You love something new. Looking forward to see this golf course. It’s always great to have a new event. I always enjoy coming to Wisconsin.”

Mize also hopes to keep up his good play. He finished in the top 20 in each of his last 3 Champions Tour starts, all majors. “I’ve been playing better lately. I’m still working on a few things. Whether it will click in this week, I don’t know. We’ll sure be out there fighting because I’ve been out there playing better and scoring better.”

Mize will be grouped with Tom Watson and Michael Allen. They’ll tee off at 11:27 ET in the first round Thursday at University Ridge.
