A naked man was taken to Meritus Medical Center after he allegedly attacked a school bus Tuesday morning in the 500 block of North Mulberry Street in Hagerstown, police said.

Wesley Britton Harman, 23, address unknown, was charged with indecent exposure, according to a news release from police.

Officer Heather Aleshire said Tuesday afternoon that investigators were not sure why Harman stripped off his clothes and started to strike the bus with his hands.

"He was just not acting normally," Aleshire said.

Police received a call at 6:33 a.m. for a report of a naked man banging on the side of a school bus.

Aleshire said officers found Harman "completely naked," with the exception of a shirt that was tied around his head.

"He just wanted to keep banging into the bus," she said.

An officer took Harman to the ground, restrained him and called an ambulance. Aleshire said no one was injured, and the bus was not damaged.

Three Northern Middle School students were on the bus at the time of the incident, Washington County Public Schools spokesman Richard Wright said.

He said the children met with the principal when they arrived at school and were offered counseling.
