The Georgia Straight presents Cantus Missae: Rheinberger and the Romantics

      On February 24, 7:30 p.m., the Vancouver Cantata Singers present Cantus Missae: Rheinberger and the Romantics at the Holy Rosary Cathedral (646 Richards Street).

      Local choral ensemble the Vancouver Cantata Singers, led by artistic director Paula Kremer, will perform a number of favourite German romantic choral pieces including Rheinberger's most famous choral piece Cantus Missae, as well as works by Brahms and Bruckner.

      The unaccompanied choir, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this season, will also invite all past singing members to join them in song for a performance of Rheinberger's Abendlied.

      The Vancouver Cantata Singer has been awarded top choral recognition the Healey Willan Grand Prize more than any other Canadian choir and is known for commissioning new works from critically acclaimed composers.
