A woman who used to work as a bookkeeper for the San Miguel Community Services District has been charged with felony embezzlement.

Kallie Johnson, 29, is accused of embezzling $38,000 in public funds belonging to the district in 2015.

According to the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office, Johnson stole the money between Feb. 1, 2015 and Nov. 30, 2015, while she was an employee of the San Miguel CSD.

The DA’s Office says Johnson could face up to four years in state prison if convicted.
