CLASSICAL GUITARIST PETER FLETCHER: MUSIC OF FOUR CENTURIES, 6:30 p.m. Sept. 24, Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St., Columbus. Fletcher, an American classical guitarist based in Detroit and New York City, will showcase a cross-section of classical music. The program will include Renaissance works by Santiago de Murcia and Alonso Mudarra, and features “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” and “Lute Suite No. 1” by J.S. Bach, and will continue with the work of several other classical European composers representing several eras. This free concert takes place in the library’s Red Room.

ARTIST TALK: RENATA GRAW AND MEET-THE-ARTIST RECEPTION, 6 p.m. Sept. 20, Columbus Visitors Center, Fifth and Franklin streets, Columbus. Chicago-based Renata Graw is a graphic designer. She’ll share her expertise in the exploration of the creative process of collecting memories and designing books. Sponsored by the Columbus Area Arts Council. Free and open to the public. ARTIST-LED WORKSHOP: DESIGN AS A CREATIVE PROCESS WITH RENATA GRAW, 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Sept. 21, Columbus Area Arts Council, 431 Sixth St. Explore the creative process of bookmaking with Chicago-based graphic designer Renata Graw. At this full-day workshop, Graw will lead participants in the process of book design, including laying out text and images by hand to create pages for a book made with the whole class. Each person will take home their own copy. Bring an object and a phrase about the object, and be prepared to tell the story of the object and the memories it triggers in them. SUICIDE THE RIPPLE EFFECT — AN EVENING WITH KEVIN HINES, 6:30 p.m., Oct 2, Judson Erne Auditorium Columbus North High School, 1400 25th St., Columbus. 15th ANNUAL KIWANIS INCREDIBLE DUCK SPLASH, noon, Oct. 13, Mill Race Park, 50 Carl Miske Drive, Columbus. Kiwanis clubs in Columbus will provide free entertainment for kids. Main event: release of thousands of rubber ducks at 12:30 p.m. into Round Lake. Sponsored ducks “compete” for cash and prizes. Winners will be announced at 2 p.m. Ducks are available for adoption from any local Kiwanis member, at Midwest Computer Solutions and from any participating “Duck Buddy” youth organization listed at kducks.com. COLUMBUS AREA DOWN SYNDROME SUPPORT GROUP BUDDY WALK, noon to 3 p.m., Oct. 13, Donner Park, 22nd Street, Columbus. Proceeds from the Buddy Walk support the advocacy efforts of the National Down Syndrome Society and The Arc of Bartholomew County. Funds raised support Bartholomew, Brown & Jennings Special Olympics, the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation’s annual transition conference for individuals with disabilities pursuing post-secondary training or employment opportunities. Funds from the Buddy Walk are used to fund many social and recreational activities for individuals with Down Syndrome and their families. Registration starts at 10:30 a.m. Walk begins at noon. The best of friends in high school, they entered a songwriting contest and won. One hit song defined their friendship and now, 40 years later, their claim to fame is less than ideal. All ages show.
