Sam Allardyce EXCLUSIVE: Former England manager reveals ambitions to move into director of football or chairman role

Big Sam was speaking on talkSPORT show ‘On the Sporting Couch’ – tune in for the full interview on Sunday November 4 at 8pm

Sam Allardyce has told talkSPORT he would ‘love’ to take the step up and become director of football or even chairman of a club.

The former England manager was speaking to sports broadcaster and psychotherapist Gary Bloom on the latest episode of talkSPORT’s ‘On the Sporting Couch’ – the second series begins on Sunday November 4 at 8pm.

Big Sam has been without a job since being ‘dumped’ by Everton in May, despite guiding the Toffees to eighth place in the Premier League last season.

The 64-year-old has been linked with a number of jobs in recent months, including Aston Villa and at Norwich City.

But the ex-Bolton, West Ham, Newcastle and Crystal Palace manager has revealed he now would now like to move up from the dugout to the boardroom.

“I’d love to be either a director of football or a chairman at a football club, if it’s at all possible,” Allardyce told talkSPORT.

“Whether that’s at the most financially best-off clubs, so we can buy the best players in whatever league that is, or whether it’s about building slowly.

“I do think I’ve got the experience and the understanding of how to pull it all together and be successful.”

On the Sporting Couch starts on Sunday 4th November on talkSPORT with Sam Allardyce, with a podcast of each episode available on Acast.
