Re: “Why San Jose City Council should rein in its travel policy” (Editorial, April 11):

Shame on San Jose council members for this unwarranted travel.

Downtown San Jose has no retail but can boast a disgraceful collection of boarded up graffiti-etched storefronts, noisy bars and tattoo salons. Pedestrians on our sidewalks have to dodge homeless, bikes, skateboards and now electric scooters.

Instead of jetting off to Japan at taxpayers expense, they can take VTA to check out places closer to home like Campbell, Los Gatos, Redwood City, etc., which have vibrant, attractive and safe downtowns.
