Even though Season 6 of Vanderpump Rules is over and all of the reunion episodes have aired, there is still a lot to dissect. One thing that stood out during the Secrets Revealed episode is James Kennedy’s mysterious living situation. Why wasn’t this ever addressed during the regular season episodes?
To be fair, James had a lot going on last season. He got his DJ gig back at SUR, he was accused of cheating on his girlfriend Raquel Leviss with his now-ex-best friend Logan Noh and his ex-girlfriend Kristen Doute, and he had a screaming match with Lala Kent over pasta. There were plenty of James-centered story lines and it is an ensemble cast, so it makes sense that one thing was left out of the main episodes, but I cannot help being intrigued by James’ mysterious, older roommate Paul. What is the situation there?
During an episode of the Pump Rules Podcast, James was asked about his roommate, who is apparently known as “Stoner Paul.” He revealed, “I met Stoner Paul through Max [Todd] actually at Pump. They’re close friends. They go to the shooting range together. Two years ago, I walked into his penthouse- where I live- and he was like I leave for San Francisco. Six months out of the year, I’m gone. Six months out of the year, I’m here. On and off. One month, one month. one month. He charges me $500. It’s great. I’ve gotten to save money.”
Sure, that does sound like a great deal, but it really just sounds like an interesting potential story line. Unfortunately the ship has sailed with that one. James revealed, “Plot twist. I just got my apartment.” He shared, “I’m getting a puppy and Raquel is actually moving in with me.” And there’s more: “I’m saving up for that nice ring for her. This is some serious shit.” Yes, it is.
Tom Sandoval was also present for this interview, which is why the podcast host asked “Who do you think is getting a ring first: Ariana [Madix] or Raquel?” James answered, “I hope Ariana.” At the same time, Tom said “Raquel” without any hesitation.
Tom also chimed in on James‘ beef with Lala by dishing out some tough love. Tom started to say, “We are unfiltered. I get that. I’m not saying filter yourself or edit yourself. The things James was saying about Randall were…”
Then James cut in to complete Tom’s thought by adding “one hundred percent out of order. I took those back and I’ve apologized.”
Tom continued, “What I’m saying is be honest. Be honest. Don’t be reactive or over compensate. You know what I’m saying?” James responded with, “One hundred percent.”
Tom concluded, “I’m not telling James to filter himself or edit himself. I’m telling James, be honest, but what I’m saying is if you bump into me in the grocery store, maybe I shouldn’t beat your car with a baseball bat in retaliation. I guess, that’s the point I’m trying to make.” James joked (I think), “All I got out of that conversation was don’t bump into Tom at Trader Joe’s.”
